Take a look at some of our circuits below …
The Céou Cycleway 22km (3,5hr) Castelnaud – Daglan – Castelnaud
Alongside the Céou River, this route has a very gentle gradient up to Daglan, and thus a pleasant downhill back to Castelnaud. Passing between the Céou hills, your route is on a tiny backroad, wider than a simple cycle path such as at Sarlat and with a smooth surface all the way to Daglan. The village of Daglan, demands more than a passing glance too. It has 4 restaurants et 2 great places to picnic on the banks of the Céou River. Several boutiques line its small streets, ready for you to stretch your legs before hopping back into the saddle. As you approach Castelnaud near the end of your ride, you will have a superb view onto the Chateau of Castelnaud framed by the Céou cliffs.
Circuit de Domme 33km (4,5hr) Castelnaud – Daglan – Domme – La Roque Gageac – Castelnaud
Starting with the Céou Vally Route, you shall continue on a gentle climb into Domme. Domme is a bastide (a fortified hilltop town) and at an altitude of 210m, it offers breathtaking views of the Dordogne Valley, well worth the climb. There are also many restaurants, cafés, and a cave that you can visit from the Tourist Office.
You return by bike via the picturesque village of La Roque Gageac, nestled up against its cliff, it’s like a mini-Rocamadour.
A last detour pas the Plage Malartrie, for a swim or one more beer / ice-cream at the beach snackbar before crossing the tabaco fields towards Castelnaud.
Circuit des Chateaux 30km (4,5hr) Castelnaud – Fayrac – Milandes – Monrecours – Beynac – Castelnaud
This is a circuit steeped in history, Medieval history. You will pass by 5 castles on the bords of the River Dordogne way of small country roads and trails both South and North side of the river.
Please note though : One section takes you on the to busy D703 and so for safety reasons, the minimum age is 10 yrs. Otherwise, this is a lovey circuit with lots to see and visit.
Mountain Biking – La Roque Gageac – 15km (2,5hr) Castelnaud – Cenac – La Roque Gageac – Castelnaud
This is a great mountain bike route for mountain bike beginners and small children. It begins on one of France’s many Grande Randonnées (GR64) from Castelnaud to Cenac, and then hopping over the river, it follows a lovely rolling trail, back along the river to La Roque Gageac, before returning to Castelnaud through the tabacco fields. Minimum age 10/12 years
Circuit to Belves – 45km (5,5hr) Castelnaud – Daglan – St Laurent la Vallée – Belves – La Chapelle Pechaud – Castelnaud
Thi sis slightly more sportive circuits, longer and steeper and with less villages. Belves though is well worth a visit, being a Bastide, like Domme, but with far more little streets to explore. Minimum âge 10/12 ans.
These 5 routes are just the tip of the iceberg .. When you join Team Bike Bus, you get access to ALL our routes online (28 routes in the Dordogne as from 10/1/24) and you will be able to use the app to navigate too !!
